Purina Sensitive Skin & Stomach and a 50/50 mix of Purina Tender Selects (15% Crude Fat) are what we use.

Blue Buffalo is also a good brand for hedgies. Around 32% protein and Crude Fat 16%.

Hedgehog Precision has excellent food and snacks for our precious hedgies.

    Plastic Tote

I switched from paper bedding To Aspen and we love it. It's a great way to go. Don't forget to spot clean.                             Fleece is okay too, watch out for toenails catching on the fabric.

    Plastic Tote

    Plexiglass is a must!

    Plastic Tote

Plastic bins minimum 110qt is preferred. You can drill holes for the water bottle if needed.

    C&C Setup

    Plexiglass is a must!

    Plexiglass is a must!

I LOVE everything about this setup.

    The heat lamp (a must).

A thermometer (to make sure it's warm).

Plenty of hiding places and toys.

    Plexiglass is a must!

    Plexiglass is a must!

    Plexiglass is a must!

You can see the clear plexiglass 12" high to prevent climbing, paper pellets under the wheel, heat source, hide, and thermostat.

Most wire cages are NOT recommended due to the hedgehog's ability to climb and can get hurt. Coroplast 10-12" high is a great way to prevent climbing and help keep the heat in.

RAMPS ARE NEVER A GOOD IDEA WITH HEDGEHOGS.

A tray under the wheel or a ferret litter box in the corner is a great idea.

Eight out of ten hedgehogs can be litter trained.

    DO NOT USE KITTY LITTER!

You can use wood pellets, fleece, or bedding on the tray under the wheel or wherever your hedgie decides to use for their bathroom

    Heating

    Heating

    Heating

Facebook has many groups like Hedgehog Talk and other sites that can offer a lot of information and valuable resources. There are so many ideas and opinions; do what makes you and your hedgie happy. Make sure your heat source is not emitting light. Hedgehogs need 12 hours of daylight and 12 hours of dark. A good temp is a minimum of 76 to 80, depending on your hedgehog's needs.

    Wheels

    Heating

    Heating

Please ensure your hedgehog's wheel is safe. As long as your hedgehog has play times, they do not have to have it every night. The Carolina Storm Wheel is the best!

    Bathing

    Heating

    Bathing

Be sure to use creamy wash and NOT shampoo. Your hedgehog does not need a bath regularly; once a month at best. Foot baths daily are okay and a great way to bond.

    Bonding

    Our Veternarian!

    Bathing

Not all hedgies are cuddles bugs; you might feel discouraged with "bonding". Giving them an article of clothing with your scent is a good idea. Hold them on your lap while you watch a movie or give them a little foot bath to explore. As long as your hedgehog is warm, watered, fed, and their nails are kept trimmed; you are doing an amazing job and your hedgie IS happy.

    Anointing

    Our Veternarian!

    Our Veternarian!

You may find your hedgehog anointing, They use their spit as a way to mask their scent and get into all kinds of positions to accomplish their mission. A strange way to sort of camouflage and blend into their environment. It can also be new smells or tastes that intrigue them to do this. I also always wash my hands with Dawn dish soap before and after every time I handle my precious little hedgehogs.

    Health Guarantee and Warranty

As babies grow, their color and temperament can change. We guarantee (to the best of our knowledge) that all baby hedgehogs are healthy and free of any parasites when leaving CBH.

    WHS Wobbly Hedgehog Syndrome

As far as Wobbly Hedgehog Syndrome goes, it isn't fully understood.

The Only Way to know for certain, is to have the diagnosis confirmed via necropsy by a licensed Professional. Many veterinarians may say or diagnose your hedgehog with WHS.

Again, the Only Way to know 100% for sure it is WHS, is with necropsy. If your hedgehog has passed due to WHS with a confirmed necropsy we will gladly offer you a new baby free of charge.

    Company Policies and Support

We are here for you for the life of your hedgehog!

If you cannot care for your hedgehog, we will gladly take your hedgehog back - at No Cost to us.

Again, your hedgehog is sold to you as a pet onlyand NOT for breeding.

    Buying for children

Please remember that children can often change their minds or lose interest. When purchasing for a child you need to be just as invested (if not more). Bringing home a hedgehog can be quite an adjustment for children/families/or first-time hedgehog owners. Please, please, please, do not impulse buy.
